Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot aircraft structural, mechanical or hydraulic systems to identify problems and adjust and repair systems according to specifications, technical drawings, manuals and established procedures;
  • Repair and overhaul aircraft structural, mechanical or hydraulic systems;
  • Install or modify aircraft engines, mechanical, hydraulic, flight control, fuel and pneumatic systems;
  • Dismantle airframes, aircraft engines or other aircraft systems for repair, overhaul and cleaning, and reassemble;

Catering Driver - Toronto (YTZ)

Functions: Reporting to Supervisor, Catering. The Catering Driver contributes to the efficient day-to-day operations of the airline.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Physically provision all flights with perishable and non perishable commissary product;
    • Liaise with operating flight crew to ensure all flight provisioning requirements are met;
    • Communicate effectively with the catering personnel;
    • Assist Catering personnel with warehousing and Deliveries when required;
    • Operate a Forklift when required;
    • Assist Catering personnel loading and unloading of the catering vehicle;

    Catering representative - Toronto (YTZ)

    Functions: Reporting to the Supervisor, Catering, the catering representative prepares and assures that each Porter aircraft is fully stocked and with commissary and catering supplies. Operating at Porters Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport location, the catering representatives provide a vital service to our operation.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Assist in inventory shipping and receiving
      • Building bars and daily catering/ commissary on board requirements
      • Brewing and preparation of coffee /hot water jugs for aircraft
      • Stocking provisioning vehicles in accordance with appropriate standards
      • Restock equipment supplies and food products in the catering facility and warehouse area
      • Liaise with Flight Crews to ensure all flight provisioning requirements are met in a timely manner

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Provide high quality customer service;
      • Check-In passengers for flights at the ticket counters by assigning seats, directing passengers to their gates, and checking documentation for flights while ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of passenger luggage;
      • Perform pre-flight check-in procedures by assigning seats, making gate announcements, issuing boarding passes and boarding the flight;

      Dispatcher - Toronto (YTZ)

      Functions: All dispatchers on duty report to, and are responsible, to the Manager, System Operations Control. A dispatcher, qualified as per CAR section 705.110, is assigned the responsibility of exercising safe and efficient operational control over Porter Airlines Inc. flights in conjunction with the pilot-in-command.

        Duties and Responsibilities:

        The Dispatcher is responsible for operational preflight preparation and flight watch within a prescribed geographic area or assigned flights in accordance with the following:

        • Canadian and foreign government rules and regulations.
        • Company flight operations manuals.
        • Corporate policies and procedures.
        • The production, reviewing, authorizing, issuing and revising, as required, of the operational flight plan (OFP) for all flights inclusive of training and test flight operations, in keeping with safety, regulatory, customer service and corporate fiscal requirements.
        • Authorizing the release of an aircraft to operate in accordance with the terms and conditions established by the OFP.
        • Analyzing operational conditions and identifying any opportunities that may benefit or restrict operational capabilities, inclusive of, but not limited to, weather conditions, ATC and aircraft performance.
        • Exercising operational control on a co-authority basis with the pilot-in-command and for the joint responsibility of the safe and efficient planning and monitoring of a flight.
        • Performing operational flight watch and determining when changes to the OFP are required or when meteorological conditions may affect the safety of flights within a prescribed area or on assigned routes, and for communicating those changes to the operating flight crew as required.
        • Formulating and implementing the revised OFP when conditions warrant, and for communicating the revised plans to the pilot-in-command.
        • Analyzing operational and meteorological conditions to evaluate and determine the most efficient and safe minimum fuel requirement in support of both safety and efficiency.
        • When requested or deemed necessary to provide the pilot-in-command with a thorough and professional flight crew briefing, covering all significant information which may impact the operation of his flight.
        • Obtaining, interpreting, and maintaining current flight and field condition reports to provide flight crews with the latest operational information.
        • Obtaining up-to-date flight progress information of active flights (flight watch) and to ensure that the computerized flight tracking system is both current and accurate.
        • Communicating to ATC all OFP requirements.
        • Initiating emergency response procedures.
        • Resolving with maintenance operational control (MOC) and the PIC, any conflicts which may be caused by any aircraft dispatch deviation from standard which may limit or impact it's operational capabilities, and to communicate those operational limitations and their impact to the duty manager and respective operating branches as required.
        • Monitoring all flights with respect to departure from the place of origin, enroute, intermediate stops, arrival at destination, diversions, delays (including maintenance, mechanical, loading, and ATC) and any other condition that might affect the safety of the flight.
        • Upon reporting for duty, flight dispatchers must familiarize themselves with current conditions with respect to flight operations that pertain to their duties.
        • Meteorological conditions, current and forecast along the routes and at the airports (including alternates) where flight operations are scheduled.
        • Airports and airport facilities for the scheduled destinations and alternates.
        • During a duty period, Flight Dispatchers must keep abreast of changing conditions and notify flight crews via the most expeditious means of any conditions that may affect the safety of the flight.

        Duty Officer, SOCC - Toronto (YTZ),

        Functions: The SOCC Duty Officer reports to the Manager, SOCC

          Duties and Responsibilities:

          • Supervision of the System Operations Control Centre personnel while on duty;
          • Oversees and manages the company's flight and ground operations while on duty;
          • Liaison with Government and Airport Authorities pertaining to operational matters that occur while on shift;
          • The overall management and assignment of flights to be operated;
          • Managing the delaying and cancellation of flights;
          • Manages the recovery of the flight schedule during IROPS + 48 hrs ahead;
          • Analyzing weather and ATC conditions to formulate plans to maintain schedule integrity;

          • Ensuring aircraft assignment that complies with MEL, corporate and maintenance requirements;
          • Initiating the Porter Emergency Response call out when required;

          • Responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and communicating daily operational activities to all relevant Porter departments and outstation personnel;

          • During both normal and irregular operations, the Duty Manager will have final decision and overall operational authority for the airline activities, giving due consideration for his responsibility to maintain a safe operation while respecting the limitations of the Canadian Air Regulations.

          Functions: Reporting to the Lead, Facilities and Equipment this position is responsible for the general cleaning and up keep of Porter facilities and equipment.

            Duties and Responsibilities:

            • Care and maintenance of Porter’s exterior and interior property and facilities, including but not limited to:

            Flight Attendants - Toronto (YTZ)

            Duties and Responsibilities:

            • Provide friendly and attentive service;

            Qualifications:

            • Fluency in English plus one other language. French is a preferred asset;

                Quality Assurance Lead - Toronto (YTZ)

                Functions: Reporting to the Manager, Product Development, this position takes part in Porter software development and systems projects from conception to post production.                   Quality Technician - Toronto (YTZ)

                  Functions: Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance, and this position will provide support in the following areas:

                    Duties and Responsibilities:

                    • Maintain and revise the technical library hard copy and soft copy, AMM , AIPC, SRM, FIM, L-Check, A-Check, c-Check as required, etc.
                    • Maintain master log of all manuals, DVD, CD and revision status including a master list of all laptop computers that have Dynaweb installed. Maintain Manual Amendment list, MQ forms to include the latest revision and Transmittal Sheets to be issued, updated upon return, tracked in the P drive, these items include but not limited to Digital manuals, AOM, AFM, QRH
                    • Retention of records associated with the quality assurance program

                      Duties and Responsibilities:

                      Ground handling of airline and general aviation aircraft which includes,

                      • Marshalling;
                      • Baggage handling;
                      • De-icing;
                      • Lavatory servicing;
                      • Grooming;
                      • Preparation of commissary;
                      • Aircraft de-icing;
                      • Create and maintain a team environment on the ramp, where every member of the ramp staff acts and feels part of a cohesive unit;
                      • Focus on safety awareness, and training;
                      • Coach and mentor all ramp team members to create an operationally safe environment;
                      • Ensure that all ramp personnel are following proper Porter safe procedures outlined in the Porter Ramp Manual;
                      • Coach and motivate all team members through any dispute resolution, and dealing with other issues or problems as they arise;
                      • Daily coaching and troubleshooting of ramp issues;
                      • Miscellaneous tasks as requested.

                      Qualifications:

                      • Valid G Ontario license (out of province equivalent);
                      • Ability to obtain necessary security clearances;
                      • Ability to work on a permanent basis in Canada;
                      • Work rotating shifts including days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays;

                      Ramp Attendant - St. John's (YYT)

                        Supervisor, Catering (Maternity Leave Contract) - Toronto (YTZ)

                        Functions: This position will report to the Director Passenger services & Catering. The Catering Supervisor will be responsible for establishing catering facility standards, in-flight catering standards and managing third party catering relationships. This position will also be responsible for planning and monitoring the movement of catering equipment, assist with menu selections, all commissary requirements and the purchase of all required equipment and supplies. This role will also be required to develop and train personnel on service standards and requirements.

                          Duties and Responsibilities:

                          • Develop and deliver catering facility training
                          • Supervise a team of employees
                          • Develop Daily, weekly and monthly catering schedules
                          • Develop Catering Order templates
                          • Deliver Coaching and Disciplinary measures if required
                          • Assist in budget planning and forecasting
                          • Develop standard operating procedures to meet the changing work environment.
                          • Purchasing supplies & equipment
                          • Monitor performance of 3rd party catering and product suppliers
                          • Assist with product development
                          • Schedule catering personnel
                          • Schedule/Maintain records of equipment maintenance within the facility
                          • Identify areas where cost efficiencies can be recognized.
                          • Develop and maintain stocking standards for In-flight
                          • Recruit new personnel
                          • Coach and administer training when required
                          • Reconcile Invoices with PO’s and delivery slips
                          • Develop and maintain seal security handling procedures
                          • Maintain Customs records for International/bonded supplies.
                          • Attend regular operations meetings
                          • Keep a record and respond to catering concerns
                          • Trend catering issues to improve efficiencies
                          • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy.
                          • Other assignments as required.

                          Qualifications:

                          • Solid airline catering background with a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience
                          • Previous experience required in handling numerous responsibilities and prioritizing workloads
                          • Knowledge of food safety and customs brokerage
                          • Fluency in French would be an asset
                          • Superior oral and written communication skills
                          • Energetic and a self starter
                          • Exceptional computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
                          • Excellent interpersonal skills
                          • Ability to travel extensively
