Porter Airlines toasts Steam Whistle Brewing

Premium Pilsner available complimentary to passengers

TORONTO/August 13, 2009 – Porter Airlines and Steam Whistle Brewing are toasting a new relationship that will see Steam Whistle’s Premium Pilsner served as part of Porter’s complimentary onboard menu. Beer will be served from 500 ml cans as an introductory promotion beginning this week.

Porter and Steam Whistle are both entrepreneurial and innovative businesses. At the heart of Porter’s philosophy is a desire to reintroduce convenience and service back to flying. This approach includes complimentary premium in-flight snack and beverage service.

“Steam Whistle is a great Canadian success story and we’re pleased to support a fellow industry leader,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. “We’re confident that their Premium Pilsner will become a signature element of the Porter experience.”

Steam Whistle Pilsner is a golden, refreshing brew with a distinctive hop aroma, tasty malt flavor, and a clean, crisp finish.

“Our motto is to do one thing really, really well, and our focus and dedication to brewing Canada’s Premium Pilsner has paid off,” said Steam Whistle Brewing co-founder, Cam Heaps. “We look forward to serving Porter’s valued customers.”

Steam Whistle Pilsner is brewed at Toronto’s historic John St. Roundhouse, less than two kilometres from Porter’s Toronto City Centre Airport (TCCA) base.  The Roundhouse is a popular destination for travellers and locals alike. The building was revitalized by Steam Whistle in much the same way as historic TCCA is flourishing since Porter began operating in 2006.  Over one million passengers are expected to use the airport annually by 2010, and a $45-million new terminal development is underway.
