Special Service Requests (SSR)

The following are the codes associated with Special Service Requests.

WCHR:

(Wheelchair regular) Passenger with reduced mobility who can go up or down stairs and is able to walk short distances. The passenger is accommodated at the counter with a wheelchair from the counter to the gate.

WCHS:

(Wheelchair stairs) Passenger with reduced mobility who cannot go up or down stairs. The passenger is accommodated with a wheelchair from the counter to the gate and is assisted into the aircraft.

WCHC:

(Wheelchair confined) Passenger is immobile and needs to be carried on and off the aircraft. Passenger’s wheelchair can be checked in at the counter or at the gate (the wheelchair of the passenger does not count as part of their baggage allowance).

BLND:

(Blind) Visually impaired passenger will be escorted to his seat. A seeing eye dog will be accepted in the cabin without charge.

DEAF:

(Deaf) Informs the counter agents and in-flight crew that the passenger is hearing impaired.

MAAS:

(Meet and assist) A passenger can ask for special assistance. Examples include passenger with multiple children, passenger with mental difficulties, elderly not requiring a wheel chair, young person travelling alone.

INFT:

(Infant). Passenger must be between seven (7) days and two (2) years old at the time of travel. An adult, sixteen (16) years or older, can travel with one infant only and must not be seated in an emergency exit row of the aircraft.

UMNR:

(Unaccompanied Minor). Passengers 5 to 11 years old who are travelling alone will be escorted from the counter to the aircraft at origin and from the aircraft to counter at the destination. Unaccompanied minor bookings must be processed through the Call Centre.

SPEQ:

(Sports Equipment) Sporting equipment is free if within weight and piece allocation. Excess weight and extra baggage charge will apply if outside the baggage piece limits. The SPEQ is considered as part of the baggage allowance.

Porter will accept the following items as sports equipment on its aircraft:

  • Bicycle
  • Golf clubs
  • Ski, boots and poles
  • Snowboard
  • Hockey equipment
  • Scuba gear

LANG:

(Language difficulty) Persons not speaking one of English or French may request special assistance.

SRVA:

(Service Animal) This SSR will normally be accompanied by the BLND. These animals are accepted on board the aircraft free of charge.
