Ensure that each piece of luggage is clearly marked with your name, address and phone number. Porter identification tags are available at check-in.
Passengers should also include a copy of this information inside their baggage.
Remove or secure all loose handles, hooks and straps.
Be aware that any substances capable of posing risks to health, safety, property or the environment when transported, such as cleaning solvents, aerosols or other common items, are not permitted on board the aircraft.
No free baggage allowance is granted to infants; however napkins, feeding bottles and sufficient food for the journey may be carried free of charge.
All bags, both carry-on and checked luggage, are screened out of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.
Some luggage may require additional screening by authorized security screeners.
Passengers departing from a domestic destination will be contacted by security to be present during the inspection of checked baggage. Guests departing from a US destination will not be contacted for secondary inspections of checked baggage.
Wrapped packages may be opened for inspection when brought as carry-on luggage.
Laptop computers and other electronic devices will need to be removed from their carrying case at the security scanning checkpoint.
Transport Canada pre-boarding security scanning prohibits passengers from taking certain items on board an aircraft. Liquids and gels in amounts smaller than 100mL may be taken on board the aircraft, in carry-on baggage, provided they are placed in a clear and re-sealable plastic bag and the contents are in the original packing.

Identification: All travel documentation and identification should be carried by passengers at all times. Do not place identification in checked luggage.
Medication: All essential medication should be placed in carry-on baggage. Medication should be in the original container with the original pharmaceutical label. Medical syringes must have the needle guard intact.
Keys: Home and automobile keys should be placed in carry-on baggage. Porter will not be responsible for cost incurred due to the delay or loss of such items. Jewellery: Jewellery and other valuables should always be placed in carry-on baggage.
Electronic Devices: If within weight and size limits, electronic devices should be placed in carry-on baggage. Ensure that electronic devices such as cell phones, laptop computers, and portable or electronic games are charged and ready to be turned on for inspection.
Camera Film: All camera film should be transported in carry-on baggage, as new screening machines for checked baggage may affect film. Film below ISO 1600 will not be harmed by carry-on screening machines.
Musical Instruments: Porter accepts properly packed musical instruments for carriage as checked baggage, subject to all excess fees (overweight, extra item) if applicable. Seats cannot be purchased for musical instruments, however small musical instruments may be permitted as part of the carry-on baggage allowance.
Perishable Items: Changes in air pressure, long flights or delays may compromise perishable items. Porter assumes no liability for any perishable items or the damage that they cause.
Fragile Items: When transporting fragile items, passengers must ensure safe packaging with adequate cushioning material to prevent any breakage. Porter assumes no liability for fragile, valuable, or perishable articles including (but not limited to) money, jewellery, cameras, video and electronic equipment, silverware, negotiable instruments, business documents, samples, antiques, paintings, furs, manuscripts, or similar items.
Sporting equipment is subject to excess luggage fees where applicable (excess weight over 23 kg and/or more than 2 pieces of checked luggage).
Limited liability release tags (LRT) must be completed and signed by the passenger for all sporting equipment. Signed LRTs are valid on round trip flights with Porter Airlines.

All items classified as hazardous materials are forbidden from carriage on Porter Airlines’ flights. These materials include, but are not limited to, flammable gases (liquid and solids), non-flammable gases, compressed gases, explosives, toxic and infectious substances, corrosives, oxidizing agents, radioactive material and magnetized material.
Passengers arriving on flights from the United States into Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport must claim and clear all bags through Canadian Customs prior to proceeding to domestic connecting flights.
Duty free items purchased in the United States must be placed in checked luggage prior to re-screening and proceeding to connecting domestic flights.
Passengers arriving from a domestic destination will have their luggage transferred from the point of origin through to the final Canadian or US destination.
Porter successfully carries baggage to thousands of passengers each year. Sometimes, due to unforeseen circumstances, baggage may be delayed in transit. If this occurs, please be advised of the following:
Damaged baggage must be reported to Porter in writing within 4 hours of the passenger’s arrival at the destination airport.
Porter will not be liable for any claim or action unless a written report is filed in accordance with the terms set out in the tariff.
When baggage repair is reported and approved for repair by Porter, you will be offered settlement with travel vouchers equal to the cost of repair, or Porter will arrange to have your baggage repaired at our local approved repair centre at Porters’ cost up to a maximum of $250.00.
Porter assumes no liability for any damage occurring as a result of normal wear and tear including, but not limited to scratches, nicks, missing straps, zipper damage, handles (including retractable tube handles), scuffs, dents, soiling, manufacturers defects, wheels and clips, seams or a result of overpacked baggage.
For domestic travel Porter’s maximum liability for lost baggage and lost contents from damage is $500.00 per person, per incident. Porter will require proof of loss.
For international travel originating in Canada, including round trips, Porter’s liability will be subject to the provisions of the Montreal Convention, which prescribes a maximum compensation per passenger of 1000 special Drawing Rights (SDR). Porter will require proof of loss.
Please note: Porter Airlines Inc. assumes no liability for items such as, but not limited to, money, jewelry, silverware, negotiable papers, securities or other valuables, business documents, samples, keys, liquids, food and other perishables, computers, prescription drugs, photographic equipment, video equipment, cellular telephones, cameras, other electronic devices, artistic items, glass, musical instruments, equipment, sporting goods and any other fragile or perishable item.
Although we are not responsible for lost or misplaced items, Porter will always try to assist in locating a lost item. If you are trying to locate a lost item, please contact 416-619-8584.
Unclaimed items will not be held at the airport for more than 14 days.
GatePorter service offers passengers the opportunity to leave carry-on luggage at the aircraft bridge prior to boarding. It will be transferred to the aircraft baggage hold for transport. Upon arrival at the destination, the baggage will be returned to the bridge for passenger pick up.
GatePortered bags must follow the same rules as carry-on luggage and are not meant for oversized luggage.
Please note: Passengers are responsible to transport their GatePorter bags to connecting flights.
