Connecting Flights

Information for connecting passengers at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport:

Canada to Canada (excluding Thunder Bay and Sudbury):

Minimum connection time - 30 minutes
Maximum connection time - 4 hours, 30 minutes

Please keep your carry-on baggage, including GatePorter baggage, with you during your connection. Checked baggage will be transferred to your connecting aircraft.

Follow the “Connections” terminal signage to the Connections Desk, located between Gates 4 & 5, and enter passenger lounge A. Ground personnel are available to assist you with flight information, boarding passes, and other questions in the terminal.

Canada to international cities, Thunder Bay and Sudbury:

Minimum connection time - 30 minutes
Maximum connection time - 4 hours, 30 minutes

Follow the “Connections” terminal signage to the Connections Desk, located between Gates 4 & 5. Ground personnel will escort you to passenger lounge B and assist you with flight information, boarding passes, as well as answer any other questions you may have.

International cities to Canada:

Minimum connection time - 50 minutes
Maximum connection time - 4 hours, 30 minutes

Please collect all of your baggage, including GatePorter and checked baggage, before proceeding to a connecting flight. Passengers arriving from international cities must clear customs.

Once customs has been cleared, follow the “Connections” terminal signage to the upper floor, clear security point A (excluding Thunder Bay and Sudbury) or B (Thunder Bay and Sudbury only) with your boarding pass, and enter the passenger lounge. Ground personnel are available to assist you with flight information, boarding passes, and other questions in the terminal.

Passengers arriving on flights from international cities into Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport must claim and clear all bags through Canadian Customs prior to proceeding to domestic connecting flights.

Please note that all liquids over 100 mL, excluding duty free items, must be placed in checked baggage prior to security screening for connecting domestic flights. Duty free items are permitted as part of carry-on baggage while connecting, so long as the purchase meets conditions outlined by CATSA.

Passengers arriving from a domestic destination will have their luggage transferred from the point of origin through to the final Canadian or international destination.

If your journey involves connecting from a Porter flight to our partner airline, JetBlue (or vice versa), here are the steps to help make it easy.

Canada > U.S.
  • Minimum connection time in Boston – 1 hour, 45 minutes
    Maximum connection time in Boston - 6 hours
  • If you connect through Toronto, your bags are automatically transferred.
  • Upon arrival in U.S., you will need to clear customs.
  • Collect your baggage and drop off at transfer belt.
  • Proceed to gate for your JetBlue flight.

U.S. > Canada
  • Minimum connection time in Boston – 1 hour, 30 minutes
    Maximum connection time in Boston - 6 hours
  • If you connect in Boston, your bags are automatically transferred.
  • Upon arrival in Canada, you will need to clear customs.
  • Collect all of your baggage.
  • If connecting to another flight, drop off your baggage at connecting flight baggage drop area.
  • Proceed to gate for your Porter flight.

Canada > U.S. > Other country
  • Minimum connection time in Boston – 1 hour, 45 minutes
    Maximum connection time in Boston - 6 hours
  • If you connect in Toronto, your bags are automatically transferred.
  • Upon arrival in the U.S., you will need to clear customs.
  • Collect your baggage and drop off at transfer belt.
  • Proceed to gate for your JetBlue flight. No terminal change.
  • You will need to clear customs in your final destination.

Other country > U.S. > Canada
  • Minimum connection time in Boston – 1 hour, 30 minutes
    Maximum connection time in Boston - 6 hours
  • Upon arrival in U.S., you will need to clear customs.
  • Collect your baggage and drop off at transfer belt.
  • Proceed to gate for your Porter flight. No terminal change.
  • Upon arrival in Canada, you will need to clear customs.
  • If you are continuing to another Canadian destination, drop off your baggage at connecting flight baggage drop area.
  • Proceed to gate for your Porter flight.
