Trade in snow for sand with a flight from Toronto to Orlando-Melbourne, FL.
Get some sand between your toes along Orlando-Melbourne’s 70 miles of beaches. Warm weather and warm water make this city the perfect escape from Toronto winters. Whether you surf, swim, or just relax, Orlando-Melbourne is your slice of Florida sunshine.
Dip your toes in the Atlantic Ocean or Indian River at one of Orlando-Melbourne’s many beaches. With nearby neighbours like the seaside towns of Indialantic and Satellite Beach, you’ll be in good company on the shore.
If you need some time out of the ever-present sunshine, there are plenty of things to do in Orlando-Melbourne. The Liberty Bell Memorial Museum and Historic Rossetter House Museum hold Orlando-Melbourne’s past, while the Foosaner Art Museum puts 2000 years of art history on display.
Practice your own swing on one of Orlando-Melbourne’s lush greens. From novice to beginner, there are a variety of golf courses to keep you swinging for days. The Majors and the Duran Golf Club are both sub-par (in a good way).
See more of the sea from Crane Creek and Ballard Park, or head inland to Wickham Park. If you don’t see a gator in these parks, you can always drive out to Gatorland for a glimpse of Florida’s resident reptiles.
Apart from a taxidermy alligator head, there’s no better souvenir to bring back to Toronto than the tan and bliss from a trip to Orlando-Melbourne, FL.
When you’re looking for waves during your trip from Toronto to Orlando-Melbourne, there’s no sweeter spot than Cocoa Beach.
Called the surf capital of the east coast, Cocoa Beach is where wave worshippers come to chill. Surf lessons are available at several locations, so you can learn what constitutes a “gnarly wave” and how to catch one.
If you can’t hang ten, kayaks and airboats can get you closer to Florida’s wildlife. While the dolphins might evade your gaze, the manatees usually mosey by slowly enough for a photo-op. The tropical plant life of Cocoa Beach’s Thousand Islands makes the perfect backdrop, whatever the picture.
Further up the Space Coast, you can visit the Kennedy Space Centre. Learn more about Florida’s aerospace history, and, if you’re lucky, see a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral.
Before you take off for Toronto’s waterfront, the Cocoa Beach Pier is your destination for the best lookout over the Atlantic Ocean, as it rolls into shore.
When you fly from Toronto to Orlando-Melbourne, there’s no better feeling than the sand between your toes.
Choose between the Indian River and the Atlantic Ocean at Orlando-Melbourne’s many beaches. These unspoiled beaches extend for miles and miles along Florida’s Space Coast. Day or night, there’s always room to set down your towel and watch the waves roll in.
There are more things to do in Orlando-Melbourne than just soak up the sun. At the Spessard Holland Golf Course and Kiwi Tennis Club you can work on your swing seaside. Whether it’s golf or tennis, the views here are good enough to throw off your game.
For action in the water, Sebastian Inlet State Park makes for an ideal surf spot. Along the park’s three miles of beach, you can also swim, scuba, or fish in the clear aquamarine waters. Further in Sebastian Inlet, the park’s many campsites and campers are great for a rustic (or not-so-rustic) overnight.
Get to know one of Florida’s early European explorers at Juan Ponce de Leon Park. Named for the man who named Florida, this park commemorates de Leon’s landing in the Sunshine State. The park’s 25 acres of beachside green space is sure to make you glad he did.
