Fun times in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach isn’t called the Golf Capital of the World for nothing. Tucked away on the coast of South Carolina, the city is a true golf destination for visitors of all skill levels. Choose from nearly 100 top-notch golf courses when you fly from Sudbury to Myrtle Beach.

The Market Common, a charming residential and commercial hub is an inland retreat from the sandy shores of Myrtle Beach. Originally a military town, the site of the Market Common was once home to the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. Today, you can surf through the neighbourhood’s high-end shopping, fine dining, and relaxing spas during your visit from Sudbury to Myrtle Beach.

While in the area, make sure to head over to the Grand Park Recreational Complex for some outdoor activities. Round up a team for a match on one of the nine fields at this facility. Take in a local baseball game, or swing by the batting cages for some practice. Year round, the complex hosts exciting championship tournaments that you’re sure to enjoy.

After you’ve worked up an appetite from all those sports, head over to Barefoot Landing for a little shopping and a lot of eating. Then, follow the Intracoastal Waterway to the shopping centre located in North Myrtle Beach. In between your retail therapy sessions, feast on the smoky deliciousness of local barbecues and fresh seaside delicacies.

Nearby, the Alabama Theatre is the main stage for local plays and country music shows. Broadway at the Beach, a Myrtle Beach attraction, also presents a lively array of family-friendly activities. Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade

Take a walk along the boardwalk

Book a flight from Sudbury to Myrtle Beach for some seaside fun on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade.

This 1.2-mile waterfront walkway is the highlight of Myrtle Beach’s downtown core. Stretching along the shoreline, visitors can stroll down the boardwalk and watch it transition from serene outdoor space to the bustling scene of Myrtle Beach entertainment.

One section of the wooden promenade provides a scenic backdrop against the greenery of Plyler Park. The green space is a renowned outdoor performance venue. Check out the amazing local talent at the Hot Summer Nights concert series held there annually.

The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel is another popular point of interest along the boardwalk. Take a ride on this towering 200-foot tall ferris wheel for picturesque views of Myrtle Beach and the surrounding country.

Step into the inviting restaurants and cafés for a break from the bright sunshine. Just another entertaining part of the boardwalk, seaside dining is complemented by an array of specialty boutiques and interesting souvenir shops.

For more than 60 years, the Gay Dolphin Gift Cove has been one of the premier gift shops on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. Its merchandise has grown close to 70,000 items since opening its doors in 1946. Among the shop’s curiosities, you’ll sure to spot some shark’s teeth and alligator heads to bring back with you to Sudbury.

Surf’s up on Surfside Beach

Catch a flight from Sudbury to Myrtle Beach for a seaside trip to South Carolina’s Grand Strand.

Further down the Horry County shore from Myrtle Beach is the coastal community of Surfside Beach. Also known as the Family Beach, the community enjoys a slower pace than the busy Myrtle Beach Boardwalk.

The area’s history is intertwined with early settler, John Tillman. In the 1800s, nearly 3,200 acres of land was cultivated into Tillman’s thriving Ark Plantation. The town of Surfside Beach is mostly built on what was once the sprawling estate. Following name changes from Roach’s Beach to Floral Beach, it gained its current name in 1952.

Today, Surfside Beach is the perfect place to chill like a local. The small town vibe and welcoming atmosphere evoke memories of the olden days of true Southern hospitality. While on your trip from Sudbury to Myrtle Beach, you’ll feel right at home in Surfside Beach.

Find friendly faces at the Hudson’s Surfside Flea Market. Search through vintage clothing, handcrafted goods, and local antiques in the 70,000 square-foot open-air space. If you’re short on golfing gear, remedy the situation with a quick visit to the market.

Thrill-seekers will uncover a gripping array of things to do in Surfside Beach. Visitors can glide  down the winding slides and splash into a day of excitement at the water-themed amusement parks.

Spend a night beneath the open sky at the Ocean Lakes Family Campground. Opened in 1971, the 310 acres of waterfront camping rests between Myrtle Beach and Surfside Beach. Escape the neon lights of Myrtle Beach for some stargazing at this nearby campsite.

With its prime location near the Golf Capital of the World, Surfside Beach isn’t without its own pristine golf courses. Visit the well-groomed grounds for a round of golf before heading back on your flight to Sudbury from Myrtle Beach.
