Airline Partners FAQ

Find answers to frequently asked questions about travelling with our airline partners.

General

Porter has partnered with Air Transat, our codeshare partner, as well as JetBlue, El Al Israel Airlines, Icelandair, Qatar Airways and Azores Airlines (SATA) to allow our passengers to travel beyond our network to destinations across the world. Visit Our Airline Partners to learn more about Porter’s interline partnerships.

When you're selecting flights for purchase on flyporter.com, an ‘Operated by’ appears next to all flights which are operated by either an interline or codeshare partner. This note indicates which carrier is operating the flight.

Codeshare is a type of shared flight — one airline operates the flight, while other airlines may sell seats on the flight under their own airline code.

For example, when you're selecting flights for purchase on flyporter.com, codeshare flights will bear Porter’s flight designator code (PD) and right next to it you will see an 'Operated by' note that indicates which carrier is operating the flight.

When booking via one of our codeshare partners, Porter may be listed as the operating carrier in the same way.

After your booking is confirmed, your electronic itinerary/booking confirmation email also provides the name of the carrier operating the flight (see the line ‘Operated by’).

When you check in with one of our codeshare or interline partners sold on flyporter.com, you may see differences in checked baggage fees, as well as in optional services and other charges.

Each airline also has its own terms and conditions of carriage. That's why it's important to familiarize yourself with the operating carrier's terms and conditions, including those regarding:

  • Check-in times and procedures
  • Baggage allowance
  • Sports and hunting equipment, and musical instruments
  • Fragile and perishable items
  • Travel with infants and children
  • Customers with special needs
  • Travel with your pet
  • In-flight services

Air Transat

For Porter-ticketed flights, existing benefits and fare rules that apply to Porter Airlines flights, such as baggage allowance, seat selection and change/cancellation fees extend to codeshare flights. For detailed information, visit Our Fares and Fees page.

Itineraries that include flights operated by our codeshare partner Air Transat can be booked via flyporter.com, through our Call Centre, on Air Transat’s websites or via your preferred travel agency.

If your flight (operated by or in part by a codeshare partner) was booked through Porter Airlines, you may contact our Call Centre in order to make changes to your booking. To make changes to flights booked via Air Transat’s website or via a travel agency, please contact the respective booking agents.

VIPorter members can earn VIPorter points based on their membership level on flights operated by our codeshare partner Air Transat. VIPorter points can be redeemed for codeshare flights online through flyporter.com or through the Call Centre at 1-888-619-8622.

Our website does not support advance seat selections on codeshare flights. To select your seat on a flight operated by a codeshare partner, please contact them directly prior to or at the time of check-in.

Our website does not currently support flight status updates for flights operated by other airlines. Please contact the operating carrier directly

Porter Passes are valid only for travel included in the package purchased and are exclusively offered for destinations operated by Porter in Canada and the U.S.

If you require a special service when traveling with an itinerary involving Air Transat and/or Porter, please communicate your request to the operating carrier(s) listed on your reservation. In any case, the most restrictive rules apply. For more information on the timelines and procedures to request a special service, please visit airtransat.com and flyporter.com.
