The Transport Security Administration (TSA) in the United States have implemented enhanced security measures at airports with direct flights to the U.S.

Passengers with an onward connection from an airport where the enhanced security measures apply may be required to comply with the additional screening.

At busy security checkpoints in Canada, Trusted Travellers External site which may not meet accessibility guidelines, including Nexus External site which may not meet accessibility guidelines and Global Entry members, are eligible for simpler security screening procedures through designated lines. Simpler procedures mean passengers using these lines can keep:

• shoes, belts and light jackets on;
• items in pockets; and
• compliant liquids, aerosols and gels External site which may not meet accessibility guidelines in carry-on bags.

All travellers must remove laptops from carry-on bags at all CATSA checkpoints in Canada.

Trusted travellers must still comply with screening rules for prohibited items. They must still pass through a walk-through metal detector, and their carry-on items will continue to be X-rayed. They may also be required to undergo additional search procedures.

• Ottawa
• Montréal
• Moncton
• Québec City
• Halifax
• St. John’s, NL

When Trusted Traveller screening lines are closed, Trusted Travellers receive front-of-the-line service in the queue. However, when using standard screening lines, they must follow regular screening procedures.

TSA Pre✓® is designed to expedite the security screening process through TSA security checkpoints at more than 200 U.S. airports. With TSA Pre✓® on your boarding pass there’s no need to remove your shoes, belt, or a light jacket at security. Liquids and laptops can stay in your carry-on bag.

Travellers who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents of the U.S. can apply for TSA Pre✓® for a cost of US $85 for five years, or US $17 per year through the TSA Pre✓® application program.

TSA Pre✓® screening is also available to

• Members of Global Entry footnote^*
• Members of NEXUS who are U.S. or Canadian citizens or U.S. lawful permanent residents footnote^*
• Members of SENTRI who are U.S. citizens or U.S. lawful permanent residents footnote^*

TSA uses unpredictable security measures, both seen and unseen, throughout the airport. All travellers will be screened, and no individual is guaranteed expedited screening.

How it works

Enter your Known Traveller Number or PASS ID in the trusted traveller number field each time you book a flight on flyporter.com. You can also save it to your VIPorter account profile and the next time you book a flight through your account, your Known Traveller Number will be added to your reservation automatically.

When checking in for a flight, look for TSA Pre✓® on your boarding pass.
