Once your flight from Thunder Bay lands, it’s all downhill from there. Downhill skiing is one of the most popular things to do in Mont-Tremblant during the winter. Mont-Tremblant stands 875 metres tall, with 80 km of runs, ranging from easy to extreme. At the Mont-Tremblant Resort, four separate faces, with almost 100 trails between them, create an oasis of alpine skiing.
Beyond the slopes, there are plenty of other ways to explore this winter wonderland. With cross-country and snowshoeing trails spread throughout Mont-Tremblant, you can dash through the snow as you tour through town. For even more adventure, join the pack with dog sledding or pick up the pace with snowmobiling.
When the snow melts, get on the green at Mont-Tremblant’s golf courses. Tee off on the devilishly difficult Le Diable golf course or take in the grand scenery of Le Geant golf course. With more sub-par (in a good way) greens spread around the city, Mont-Tremblant is a foremost golf destination.
After a day on the links, take to the trails of the P’tit Train du Nord. This former railway track is now a scenic cycling route through the Laurentian Mountains. Go full steam ahead on this picturesque 200 km path.
Once you’ve made your way through the mountains, hop aboard the repurposed train station and art gallery, Place de la Gare. With arts activities in the Village Church art gallery and Mont-Tremblant Blues Festival; Mont-Tremblant is more than just an outdoor destination.

Domaine Saint-Bernard

Hike and bike your way through 29 km of trails that run through the park. These shared courses are your path through the thick woods that cover Domaine Saint-Bernard. Skip the trails altogether to soar over Domaine Saint-Bernard on the zip line course.
After tackling the 2 km obstacle course on the waterfront of Lac Raynaud, take to the lake. Pick up a paddle and canoe or kayak your way across this beautiful body of water. At Lac Raynaud’s supervised swimming beach, you can dip your toe or dive right in.
When the lake freezes over, Domaine Saint-Bernard’s winter activities heat up. Cross country trails trace through 80 km of the park, providing paths for both skate and classic styles of skiing. Winter walking paths and snowshoe trails add even more cold-weather adventures to Domaine Saint-Bernard. To warm up after spending time in the snow, head to the park’s heated shelters or sit by the rest area’s fireplace.
In every season, Domaine Saint-Bernard’s many avian inhabitants make for amazing birdwatching. The Jardin des Oiseaux attracts a variety of birds, from blue jays to Baltimore orioles. If you’re lucky, you may even get to hand feed the park’s cheeky chickadees.
Keep your eyes on the skies at the Pavilion Velan. Two high quality telescopes make this observatory a stellar way to enjoy a night in Domaine Saint-Bernard. After a little astronomy, you’ll have the full Domaine Saint-Bernard experience to bring back to Thunder Bay.
Parc National du Mont-Tremblant
All-season scenery
Whatever time of year you book your flight from Thunder Bay, Parc National du Mont-Tremblant showcases the best of the province’s wilderness.
Spanning an area of 1,510 square km, this park is the largest in the province of Québec. As you explore this expansive natural reserve, keep an eye out for the park’s animal inhabitants. Creatures of every size call this park home, from the mighty moose to small red squirrels.
The 80 km trail system is your path to the park’s natural wonders. With walks ranging from tough treks to easy strolls, you’re sure to find a hike you like in Parc National du Mont-Tremblant.
If you’re looking for a challenge, suit up with a helmet and harness to tackle the Via Ferrata du Diable trail. After climbing almost sheer rock faces along wooden beams, wire walkways, and narrow ledges, you’ll be rewarded with an amazing 200 metre high overlook of the Rivière du Diable.
Six large rivers run through the park, along with a system of hundreds of smaller streams and lakes. From pedal boating to paddleboarding, Parc National du Mont-Tremblant’s waters are always awash with activity. Canoes and kayaks are a classic way to travel through the park’s waterways, but you can forego the gear altogether and go for a swim off of the Lac-Provost and Crémaillère’s beaches.
During the winter season, this national park is a hotbed of cold-weather fun. Between the Pimbina and Diable sections of the park, 48 km of snowshoe trails are available to explore. Trade in your snowshoes for cross-country skis to glide through the 43 groomed km of trails in the Diable.
It’s easy to stay cozy as you traverse this winter wonderland, with warming huts lining the trails. Brave the backcountry along 112 km of unpacked trails to see the untamed Québec wilderness at its best.
