Parc de la Chute-Montmorency
Natural wonders near the city

Just minutes away, Parc de la Chute-Montmorency is a prime spot for picnics and outdoor adventures. The park itself was established in 1781, but its main attraction is the Montmorency Falls. From its towering height of 83 m, it is actually 30 m higher than Niagara Falls and marks the spot where the Montmorency River drops off into the St. Lawrence.
The site was named by Samuel de Champlain after Henri II, duc de Montmorency, and features 3 kilometres of well-maintained hiking and bike trails. Visitors can easily find varied views of the falls from lots of lookout points. Via ferrata routes, suspended bridges, and cable car rides up the falls are just a few of the other ways to see the nature-filled sights.
Even under snow and ice, finding things to do in Parc de la Chute-Montmorency is a walk in the park. Winter hiking and snowshoeing are great ways for the whole family to experience the area’s natural wonders.
