How does Porter’s fare structure work?

Upgrade your fare for even better convenience and service. Porter offers 3 fare classes: Freedom, Flexible and Firm. Each fare type provides an array of options including complimentary changes and cancellations, advance seat selection and same-day changes at the airport based on the selected fare. For detailed information, visit fare structure

Top

Can I select a seat?

Firm fare reservations will be charged $20 CAD/USD plus tax, per flight, per seat. There are no additional charges for Flexible or Freedom fare reservations.

If you would like to select a Premium Seat, Firm fare reservations will be charged $40 CAD/USD plus tax, per flight, per seat. Flexible and Freedom fares will be charged $20 CAD/USD plus tax, per flight, per seat. Seat selection fees are non-refundable.

If you do not reserve a seat, one may be assigned within 24 hours of scheduled departure. You can select your seat preferences (aisle or window, and area of the plane) through your VIPorter account. We will attempt to accommodate your preferences when automatically assigning seats.

For operational reasons, Porter reserves the right to change seats at any time.

What is a premium seat?

Premium Seats are located at the very front of the plane. (Row 1, Seats A/B; and Row 2, Seats A/B/C/D). These seats offer a quick entrance and exit from the aircraft and more legroom.

Premium Seat selection can be made at the time of booking. Firm fare reservations will be charged $40 CAD/USD plus tax, per flight, per seat, for Premium Seat selection. Flexible and Freedom fares will be charged $20 CAD/USD plus tax, per flight, per seat. Seat selection fees are non-refundable.

Transport Canada regulations require that emergency exit seats not be occupied by passengers whose presence in those seats could adversely affect the safety of passengers or crew during an emergency evacuation.

A passenger’s presence would be considered to adversely affect the safety of passengers and crew members during an emergency evacuation where he or she does not meet the following criteria.

Passengers seated at emergency exits:

  • Must be physically capable of using the exit
  • Must be capable of understanding the printed and spoken emergency instructions
  • Must be able to visually determine if the exit is safe to open
  • Must have sufficient mobility, strength and dexterity to reach, operate and stow (or otherwise dispose of) the emergency exit
  • Must be able to receive aural information from the crew and to orally communicate that information to other passengers
  • Must be of a minimum age (as established by the air operator) to ensure that he/she has the physical, cognitive and sensory capacity to operate an emergency exit
  • Must not be responsible for another person as this can hinder the opening of the emergency exit
  • Must not be travelling with a service animal
  • Must not have a condition that might cause them harm by opening the exit

Passengers who are not eligible to sit in these rows will be reassigned at the airport, and the selection fee will be refunded to the credit card on file.

Will I receive a paper ticket?

Porter does not issue paper tickets. A confirmation number will be sent to you via email or provided over the phone. Passengers must present proper identification at the airport to board their flight.

With few exceptions, persons denied boarding involuntarily are entitled to compensation.

I am travelling with medication. Which medications may require additional screening?

All essential medication should be placed in carry-on baggage. Medication should be in the original container with the original pharmaceutical label. Medical syringes must have the needle guard intact.

Passengers authorized by Health Canada to carry medical marijuana must present legal documentation permitting possession. As part of standard procedure, Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) screening officers must call local authorities to verify the validity of the documents. This process can take significantly longer than normal screenings as authorities may have to be called from off site, depending on the airport. For this reason, it is suggested that passengers allocate extra time for security screening when travelling with medical marijuana. Porter Airlines is not responsible for the delay caused by additional screening and will not compensate passengers who have missed their flights.

Documentation is valid for travel within Canada only. Passengers are not permitted to travel with medical marijuana to the US, without exception.
